• All grease guns use grease cartridges. The first step in using this tool is to ensure that you’re using a cartridge of the right size.
• Remove the top of the head from the barrel. Make sure to pull up the lever up, so that you insert the grease cartridge.
• Once the lever rod is withdrawn, you can lock the cartridge into place.
• Make sure to remove the foil cover on top of the cartridge before you insert it. Very often, most people make this mistake as they assume that inserting the cartridge automatically removes the lid.
• Make sure to insert the cartridge all the way in. It should be level with the rim of the grease gun.
• When you place the right-sized cartridge it should fit flush inside the barrel.
• Once you’ve placed the cartridge inside, don’t screw the barrel on tightly. This is because some volume of air will be left inside the cartridge. When there’s an air pocket inside the barrel, it makes it difficult to expel grease at the end of the gun. So, you need to expel all the air inside before screwing the barrel.
• Make sure to press the cartridge rod towards the end of the barrel before you screw it back.
• Check if grease flows out smoothly from the end of the nozzle. If yes, then you’ve completed the process successfully.
